who else here never actually learned what they were doing in monopoly till after they had been playing it for years? i can still remeber that christmas morning, i was 10, i had been playing monopoly since i was 5ish and had no clue what i was doing. anyway, we had the game board laid out, our money still on the side, i figured id "borrow" some money from the bank, and as i lifted a few hundreds i saw it. I remeber, angels sang out in joyous chorous, as i saw, the rule book.

anyone else have this almost religious discovery of the rules of monopoly or am i the only loser?

i played monopoly at a young age too. I dont remember not knowing wat to do tho. Only thing i remember is that it TAKES SO FRIGIN LONG to get anywhere. That game is almost endless.

I always played with my grandfather, and he always won... 

We had lots of house rules, and for years I couldn't separate what was an official rule from what was a house rule... 

I remember one day in my teens, finally getting my own copy of the game (rather than just using my grandfather's copy) and discovering just what the real rules were... it was like a whole other game...

Now that I don't use house rules, my games usually last 2 or 3 hours at most...  and I can beat my grandfather too!  I did have an 11 hour game one time, but that was a fluke.

lol seem like you guys could have enjoyed monopoly junior(highest cash value 10$), I started with normal when I was younger to but cant remember if I knew the rules or not...

Anyway found out abaut junior version when my grandmother bought it for a cousin of mine and tryied it out, really fun actually
